Abstract
Purpose: To investigate optical quality with double-pass technique after posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation.

Methods: We examined 57 eyes of 30 patients(mean age: 26.87¡¾7.26 years) undergoing implantable contact lens (ICL) implantation of moderate and high myopia (mean manifest spherical equivalent: -9.26¡¾1.67 D). We assessed quantitatively the values of modulation transfer function (MTF) cutoff frequency, Strehl ratio, objective scattering index (OSI) and the Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS) values (OVs) with OQAS before and 1 month after surgery, respectively. We
compared these variables in eyes pre and postoperatively and postoperatively visual outcomes in moderate and high myopic groups.

Results: The mean MTF cutoff frequency, Strehl ratio, OSI, OV100%, OV20%, OV9% were 31.23¡¾8.85 cycles/degree, 0.18¡¾0.05, 0.76¡¾0.37, 1.04¡¾0.30, 0.73¡¾0.24 and 0.44¡¾0.14, respectively, 1 months after ICL implantation. We found no significant differences in the MTF cutoff frequency (ANOVA test, p=0.55), Strehl ratio (p=0.60), OSI (p=0.36), and OVs at contrasts of 100% (p=0.56), 20% (p=0.67), and 9% (p=0.52), between pre and post ICL implantation. We did not find statistical
significant differences in MTF cutoff frequency, Strehl ratio, OSI, and OVs between moderate and high myopic ICL implantation groups (p>0.05).

Conclusions: The visual quality parameters 1 month after surgery were not significantly different those in the eyes corrected with spectacle lenses before surgery. The visual quality of high myopic group was not significantly different that of moderate myopic group, suggesting that high myopic ICLs provide good and comparable optical quality to moderate myopic ICLs.
